I recently had a craving for Klang-Style Bak Kut Teh and was recommended by Aunty Siew Keng to try out Tean's Kitchen. With the help of our GPS we managed to find the restaurant which was tucked on a side street.
Dry-Style Bak Kut Teh
This was my first time having Dry Bak Kut Teh and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The flavor was definitely more robust from the soup version because the stock is reduced down to almost a syrup-like consistency. Chili's and Fried Anchovies were stir-fried together with the Pork Belly making it a very aromatic and robust dish!
Bak Kut Teh: Lean Pork
I ordered their Lean Pork and it was very tender despite having very little fat. This maybe attributed from the long hours of being braised in the stock. I also enjoyed their Soup which had a very strong and rich herbal flavor.
Bak Kut Teh: Medium Fat Pork
The Pork was really good. It was fork tender and had the right ratio of meat and fat.
Bak Kut Teh: Pork Intestines
The Pork Intestines had a chewy texture and no foul aftertaste. The heavy soup base of the Bak Kut Teh was good with it.
Rice and Yao Cha Kwai
Rice and Yao Cha Kwai are a must when eating Bak Kut Teh to soak up the delicious Herbal Soup!
It's been so long since I had Klang-Style Bak Kut Teh and Tean's Kitchen did not disappoint. Everything I had was really good especially their Dry Bak Kut Teh. For those that has never had it you should definitely give it a try!
