Granola (Oat, Almond & Sunflower Seed)

Granola (Oat, Almond & Sunflower Seed)
This Granola is very healthy. You can eat it as snack, with milk oryogurt.
Easy to make.
My family very crazy with Granola, buying off the rack is quite expensive compare making it yourself.
Do try it out!

2 tablespoons of Honey (I use Manuka Honey).
3 tablespoons of Vegetable Oil (I use Corn Oil).
1 cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal or Quick CookingOatmeal(not Instant Oatmeal).
1/2 cup sliced or silvered Almond (I use whole Almond and chop into pieces).
1/2 cup shredded Coconut (I use Sunflower Seed).

Pour all the above into a bowl.

Mixthoroughly, all well combined and well coated.

Bake at 185 Degree Celsius for 40 minutes or all even golden brown.
Every 10 to 15 minutes, please stir itoccasionally.
Once done, leave it to cool and keep inside a container for later use.

Such a healthy food! Isn't it is tempting to be eaten?
You be the judge.

Going Penang for An Errand

Upon nearing Ipoh I called a friend to check whether we could catch up for a lunch and it was possible. Kok Choo took me here at Ipoh Garden, Restoran New Holly Wood. The famous halal Char Koay Teow and it came with chili sauce, something unusual for Char Koay Teow. It's delicious.Wong Kok Choo at his home in Ipoh Garden.I just do not understand the Police, why must they caused this traffic jam on the highway. They could just post the summons to the the offenders like they normally do and why slow down the traffic flow :C....The properties along Green Lane (Jalan Masjid Negeri) is slowly changing its look.At last I reached Air Itam and I can go for my "ronda ronda".I wanted to visit my dad here but it was closed I have to come back some other time.Youth park as it was formerly known and it is located before the Botanical Garden. The Information Centre.
This park is still popular among the locals and especially during the weekends.

A bit further from Youth Park is the Penang Botanical Garden but unfortunately no bicycle beyond this point.
Waterfall Indian TempleUsed to be a roundabout going to the beaches like Batu Ferrighi as I wasapproachingGurney Drive. One end of Gurney Drive near the Hawker Centre. And the other end of Gurney Drive towards the city centre. In front of the polo ground is the residence of the Penang Governor.A typical shady road of Penangthoughit was a hot day.I was following these 6 armed riders along Jalan Air Itam.I just could not resist the smell of this wonderful delicacy and ended eating thisunscheduledmeal.
Thanks to Allan Ong for hosting this dinner for us at the Batu Lanchang Market.

Il Lido & Vineria

Returning to two top Italian outlets _ Il Lido and Vineria _ to see what's cooking these days.
Il Lido's earlier entries: June 2, 2010, June 4, June 18, July 8, Aug. 15, July 17, 2011 & Aug. 3.
Vineria's earlier entries: Jan. 18, 2010 & Jan. 26, 2010 (oh how the years go by!).

Chef Andrea recently revamped Il Lido's menu (again). A should-try is the crayfish salad, strikingly assembled, with meaty flesh served in shells atop of subtly spicy beans.

House-smoked tuna with beetroot and horseradish. Think of this for a few ! seconds, imagining the combination of tastes and textures. Pretty interesting recipe.

Burrata cheese finally finds a place in pasta, complementing the burrata salads and crostini that have become popular at KL's other Italian eateries. Stuffed into agnolotti with mushroom ragu, this works as hearty, heartwarming fare.

Gnocchi, also a surprise, presented almost dry on a long plate, not in a sauce-smothered bowl. Constructed of smoked ricotta cheese, accompanied by crisply thin duck ham & sweet pea puree. Perfect for sharing & nibbling.

Meat-lovers can indulge in boneless roast quail stuffed with foie gras terrine, enhanced by truffle and confit celeriac. Exemplary.

The verdict: Il Lido is still the city's top spot for an Italian meal.

Meanwhile, at Vineria, there's often something seemingly intriguing to try, particularly in the meat and cold-cuts section.

This air-dried salted venison with blueberry reduction and fontina cheese tastes relatively similar to beef bresaola, sharing the same lean tenderness and savory mustiness.

Truffle-stuffed "mezzelune" egg pasta sauteed with 24-month aged Parmigiano cheese. Alas, the taste of truffles was reduced to scarcely a scent of earthiness _ unfortunate because this cost north of RM50.

The menu called this "schiacciata" _ a classic flat bread recipe _ but it seemed like regular pizza, topped with ham, rocket salad and maybe stracchino cheese. At this point, it felt like what Vineria's menu promises isn't always what the kitchen delivers.

Skipping to dessert: a mix of espresso, gianduja ice cream, chantilly cream & the faintest flavor of what's listed on the menu as 23-year-old rum.

Grappa-poached pear covered in chocolate sauce and nuts. We prefer the wine-poached version at Casa Del Cocco for its more honeyed softness.

Peach & vanilla chilled soup with caramelized berries & tarts. A tad too tart.

What saved the evening: amaretti & apple cake, a creamy concoction with balsamic berries.

Alcohol helped: Prosecco Brut Nino Franco and Erbaluce Arneis Miranda Del Centovigne 2010.

Vechhia Romagna 10-year-old wine brandy & Liola Lemon Cream from the island of Capri.
