FlexiRoam Affordable International Roaming for RM10

FlexiRoam offers Malaysian Travellers Unlimited Roaming Service for a Significantly Lowered Rate!

flexiroaming-RM10-430x204
Malaysia-based ReapField Technology has launched a roaming service called FlexiRoam at RM10/day for unlimited calls at 15 countries.

The 15 countries are:

Australia, Brunei, China,France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, Vietnam.

How does it work?
Register & purchase credits from Flexiroam.com. Activate the service via SMS before departing from Malaysia.

Upon arrival at your overseas destination; buy a local sim card.

Activate FlexiRoam via SMS from your new number. Readhow Flexiroam works over here.

FlexiRoam directs all calls from your Malaysian phone line to your foreign line while you are travelling overseas. This allows you to remain in contact through your Malaysian number while enjoying the privileges of making and receiving cheap calls on your foreign line. It also means theres no need to inform your contacts of any new international mobile numbers.

CONS:
1. Calls are unlimited for RM10/day, but users will still be charged at local rates (Malaysia) as calls from their actual mobile number (not your new country of destination number) are forwarded to the local Flexicall number in Malaysia.
Also users wont be able to receive SMS as the mobile operators in Malaysia doesnt support SMS forwarding. Read thelimitation of Flexiroam here.

2. Flexiroam systems cant promise to displaythe Caller ID. Their system are set to send Caller IDs to the foreign mobile operators but it is up to them to decide what to display. So when you receive calls, the display may show private numbers or some random numbers.

My personal opinion:
Dare I say Flexiroam is a good service but not so much so for those who are very DATA roaming dependant? For instance, me. I probably need DATA more than anything. If Im on Flexiroam overseas, Ill still need to purchase another package just for data so perhaps FlexiRoam may not be the ideal roaming partner for me?
Lets face it, how many of us (lets just say the tech savvy, smartphone users) calls often? Ill probably call AFTER I had attempted BBM, Whatsapp, Twitter DM, email, FB msg (or write on the wall of their FB) & lastly, SMS.
If all the above fails, I normally assumed that the person is unavailable & will then wait for his/her reply on any of the communication medium I had used above.

But then Im only one person out of the whole human race out there. LOL.
Browse through how Flexiroam works over here & decide for yourself if its suitable for you.

Day 3 - Leaving Club Med Cherating 01 September 2011

Here I am waiting for the sun to rise in the early morning at the East Coast of Penisular Malaysia.
I was patiently waiting and merely listening to the sound of sea waves coming to the shore.
At last you appear.... bright & strong. There is nothing that is disturbing this Tai Chi man, it`s only the sound of sea waves and finally the sun that came & shine upon him.
Our Room D1142.
I missed this trapeze fun ...
Let have fun in the swimming pool with the kids.
We were testing whether our waterproof casing for the camera is still working.

The daddy is having a good time too.

Goodbye Club Med and I do not know when I will came back again. The first time was in 1982, the second was 1995 (see here) and currently 2011. Looks like it takes 10 over years to make my re-visit.

The Whisky Bar

Back to The Whisky Bar after over a year. Earlier entry: June 14, 2010.

What to eat with whiskey? Pork ribs, smoked with Scottish whiskey, seem like a safe bet _ meaty, fork-tender and somehow subtly sweet. Raise your glass!

Pork belly pizza with rocket salad. Also excellent; the velvety topping of pork slices lifted this thin-crust concoction to luscious new levels.

Fondue for two, fondue for two: Swiss gruyere & emmenthal cheese, with gherkins, broccoli, potatoes, sausages & bread cubes. (Chocolate fondues are available for dessert lovers)

Creamy and aromatic, as all fabulous fondues should be.

When the fondue is more than half-finished, a raw egg & kirsch are added into the mix to supply a special kick (liquor-laced fondues rule!).

A whiskey flight, featuring a tasting set of varieties from five countries: Hakushu (12 years, Japan), Old Pulteney (12 yrs, Scotland), Jim Beam Black Label (12 yrs, USA), The Irishman (Ireland) & Canadian Club Classic (12 yrs blended whiskey, Canada).

The Whisky Bar also now serves a traditional Sunday roast platter, EVERY DAY, 5pm-10pm, with roast beef, lamb shoulder, gammon ham, Yorkshire pudding & more, for RM48++.
