Big Tree Lin Kee (Chan Sow Lin Steam Fish Head)

As it's name implies, the stall is nestled under a big tree with lots of green foliage, sandwiched between the back lane of two rows of terrace houses.

The best landmark to access it, is the UCSI university, on the left side of Taman Connaught if you come from Petaling Jaya.

The place is quite cooling and is terraced and the floor are roughly cemented.

Plastic tables and chairs are the main furnishings.

The main dish is steamed fish head cooked in various styles.

Side dishes are stir fried vegetables, double boiled herbal chicken in coconut soup, steamed tofu with fish paste....etc.

Prices are reasonable.

Parking is OK.

The Han Room, The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur

Last week, Hubby treated me to a very nice lunch at The Han Room. It's Hubby's first visit here, but he was impressed with the food. I have been before when the restaurant newly opened last year (read review here).

We came after lunch peak hours, so no problems getting a table. We did notice that the restaurant was still very busy (and this, on a weekday - looks like it's very popular with the office crowd). Food service was very quick, we didn't have to wait very long for our appetizers to arrive.

Braised nuts (RM3) and Jasmine tea

I loved this dish on my previous visit, so I did not hesitate in ordering this again. The tangy flavours of the"Paku" vegetables with spicy sauce (RM8) certainly did its job in whetting our appetite. Even Hubby loved this!

And look what we found.. a heart-shaped onion ring ;)

We have heard some good things about the char siew here (BBQ pork), so we ordered a portion to try. The portion looks a little small, but it was sufficient for two of us to share. We felt it was pretty good too, but not as good as Toast & Roast. Quite juicy, nicely caramelised but a bit on the lean side. We wanted to try the siew yoke too, but changed our mind because I ordered too much. LOL.

BBQ Char Siew (RM16)

I ordered the Deep Fried Chicken Wing with Glutinous Rice (RM9) from the "Special Chef's Recommendation's menu section. A bit expensive for a single chicken wing, which is literally just a wing stuffed with glutinous rice. Crispy, but nothing special.

This very simple noodle dish which Hubby ordered turned out to be one of the best things we ate here. The braised egg noodle village style (RM24) had all the right ingredients needed for a great dish - good texture and good flavours. If I'm not mistaken, there wasn't even any meat in there but the stock, mushrooms, beancurd, greens and smooth noodles was enough to make this a winner. Would definitely reorder this again.

The garlic fried rice topped with foie! gras (RM25) has been on my to-try list, am glad that I got to try it out this time. The fried rice is simple but fragrant, and the foie was nice and rich.

They have a really huge menu here, still loads that I would love to return and try.

Verdict: Very tasty Chinese food, and fast service.

Moon Bar @ Bukit Damansara

Pub-loving, pork-munching carnivores, feel free to howl at the moon at Plaza Damansara.

At this friendly neighborhood watering hole, stressed-out urban slaves can cast off their worries and sink their teeth into a better-than-expected pork burger, boasting one of KL's juiciest patties, melted colby cheese and caramelized onions.

Something tasty for everyone, from Indian-inspired tamarind pork varuval with butter briyani, tomatoes and chili raita ...

... to Chinese Hokkien mee, complete with crunchy pork lard. And there's still more on the menu, including the likes of pork meatballs and bacon-wrapped pork belly.

Chilean and Aussie w! ines mak e up the house-pouring selection.

Lots of hard liquor makes it hard to remember what we drank. Ermmm, whiskey?

If the live music isn't too loud, ask the service team whether Margaritas and Martinis are available (or sit at The Moon Bar's alfresco section, shielded from the sounds of the guitars).

Gerai Makan Japanese BBQ Taman Desa

There are this place that serve awesome BBQ pork in Taman Desa. First I wanna clarify that this is not CHAR SIEW! No Char Siew No Siu Yoke! *This is dedicated to Eric Yong! LOL Dont want my babi president misunderstood.

The signboard some more multi lingual. Malay, England and Cina. Best!

Recap!

Most of the tables were placed outdoor. I tell you we were seated inside when we got there due to rain. It was so hot!

This is the kitchen where all the meats were cut and then served on the clients table.

The place actually serves Japanese YAKINIKU or in England is BBQ Meats.

This is our round 1 ordering which we clear it in less than 10 minutes.

Pork Belly RM10

Shoulder Loin

Pork Ribs

Beef Steak RM25

This is the most ordered for the night. However it doesnt come cheap. The whole dinner cost us about RM200++! for 3 p ax as the beef steak is the only one that can satisfy our crave.

Beef Rib Eye RM10

The beef is premarinated with miso sauce and after cooked it kinda shrink further. In the end the quantity is very little.

Every table gets a charcoal stove for themselves.

The meats getting smaller and smaller. Sad burn the money up there.

At least the pork belly doesnt shrink that bad.

The cooked look of the pork belly.

This the best meats that shall put on grill which is the Beef Steak. But hell it doesnt come cheap. RM25. I think 3 of us had 4 or 5 plates and just barely satisfy. We end up going pan mee after this. =.=||

Genghis Khan RM20 cooked next table. So we took the opportunity to shoot it since it is FREE. hahaha .

It was the only lamb dish that cooked on a hot plate together with plenty of cabbage. It is cooked till soupy like and served.

The dipping sauce which is similar to the one served in Restaurant Teppanyaki. It is a combination of miso and soya sauce with a lil chilli flakes and garlics. I kinda like it to dip anything BBQ with it.

Sapporo Beer RM13

Chilling ourself down with Sapporo Japanese Beer.

Checkout the price.

Verdict : Will I go back? Yes! Once in a while. If go to regular, I sure going to break my bank. This place is meant to be chill out and not for main course. To get your tummy filled up, prepare to pay.

Restoran Chen Fatt Seri Kembangan Old School Tai Chow

There are times where I run out of idea on where to eat for weekend brunch. So I joined Taufulou and his fellow makan kaki to explore out of the Klang Valley.

This round we went to Restoran Chen Fatt located in the heart of Seri Kembangan. There are plenty of good foods here like Spicy Chicken Soup (Lat Tong), Steam Snake Head Fish and many other old restaurants that has toned down its business over the years. Still they maintain the top notch quality foods that retain their regulars heart returning to patron them. I am finding out why they are still there.

Paper wrap chicken.

This may look extremely oily as the paper wrap a piece of marinated chicken inside and then deep fried. Once open you will see the chicken literally drenched in a bed of oil. But when you bite on it, it will be a different story. It is juicy and moist.

Next we try on something special which you dont easily get in town. Chicken feet salad.

The chicken feet were poached then placed into cold water and deboned. Topped with crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, coriander and house special sauce is a perfect combination as a starter.

Taufu Soup

This is kinda similar to sharks fin soup minus the fins.

Pineapple pork ribs . All my close friends know I never say no to pork. This is a fried pork ribs and then pan fried with pineapple cubes. It may sound strange but taste not bad.

Tilapia cooked asam pedas way ok ok only for this. I dont get the sour kick nor the spiciness that get me heat up.

The address is located at :

43300 Selangor.
