Its Play Time!

I have some really fun Cake Pops news to announce today. Im not even sure where to begin because I still cant believe it myself.

First Ive said this before, but I could have never imagined the kind of wonderful adventure that Ive been on since first posting cake pops here on this website. And when I say adventure its everything from the book, to all of you that Ive met and to each and every email and story that youve shared. Every smile that youve given me and all of the proud moments each time I see the cake pops you guys are creating. You make my life brighter. All because of a little cake on a stick.

Now, like I said, I have something super exciting to share with you.

So Im just going to say it.

Here goes Im kinda nervous.

This is so crazy

I have a toy line coming out next month at Toys R Us!

Cake Pops by Bakerella Toy

Its a Cake Pops Toy! Like for real.

I told you. Crazy, right?! But sooo exciting! Butterflies in my stomach exciting.

The toy is inspired by my book and lets little ones play and create cake pops at home.

One thing that I wasnt expectingafter the book came out was how much kids enjoyed making cake pops. Not just eating them, but making them. And even younger children that would ask for the book as their bedtime story. Some even used it as a learning tool like using the photo index in the back as a matching game to find the recipe. When I was first approached to do a toy I wasnt expecting it, but when I thought about all those sweet stories, a toy seemed like a perfect way to let kids enjoy cake pops even more and a yummy way to ! inspire creativity. Plus, I feel like Im playing most of the time in the kitchen anyway. Perfect fit.

Cake Pops Toy

This is The Ultimate Cake Pops Set and it comes with a sweet cake pop stand, cake pop tray, mixing bowl, dipping bowl, cake crumbler, and presses to help you make four different cake pop shapes. And theres lollipop sticks and an instructional placemat, too.

Just grab some cake, frosting and candy coating and kids can start creating.

Theyll call it an excuse to play with their food. And I hope they have a blast doing it.

Cake Pops Toy

I do. Ive been having fun using the toy since I received the production samples. (And Im loving the pink cake pop stand. Yay!)

Its good for kids of all ages I guess.

Actually this could pretty easily be an adult product. You can get one for your kids and use it for yourself. I wont tell.

The shapes you can make include, circle, square, triangle and cupcake!

Cake Pops Toy

I cannot get over this.

Cake Pops Molds Set

Heres another toy in the line.

This is the Cake Pops Molds Set and it comes with one press, and molds to make! three d ifferent cake pop shapes (bear, flower and heart) Plus instructions and lollipop sticks, too.

Both toys will be available at Toys R Us this September ($19.99 and $7.99 I think). Youll be able get it in stores or online.

And, in Canada, you can find the toys in Wal-Mart stores.

Stay tuned and Ill let you know when it hits the shelves. Ill probably be stalking the stores until it does.

As I sat here staring at my calendar working out m schedule for work and travel for the rest of the year, I realized I havent shared about my personalised calendar from Intel Malaysia :)

Yes, I was presented with one in early March, during the Toshiba Z830 Ultrabook campaign. My company Rouge Communications handled the online buzz, working with an agency in Singapore. It was one of our most biggest campaign to date. :)

Recipe: Curry Potato Pau

Recipe taken fromhslingkitchen.

Potato filling:

550g potato
200g shallot
3 Lemon grass smashed
5 pieces of dried chilli
2tbsp meat curry
3sprigs curry leave
Salt sugar

The curried potato above is really good, slightly spicy.

The paus texture is good even when cooled, i think mostly due to this method of having a starter dough (part of flour, water, yeast fermented slowly in room temperature for 6 hours and more)

CurryPotatoPau1

pau starter dough left to ferment overnight, bubbles formed inside the soft dough batter

myBurgerLab.

myBurgerLab is more a young people fast food joint-was impressed to see aunties and uncles, too !

What that should be served fast took about 30 minutes and that was at 5:45 pm.

A photo shoot took away quite a lot of space of the already small sparse and practical restaurant.

Ordering was a breeze from a huge menu board.

There were beef, chicken and vege burgers with come with fancy names and different types of add-on.

The outstanding thing about them is their soft, full, not so airy toasted charcoal bun (would be better if it's a little bigger), house made beef patty and spicy red sauce.

Overall it was a delicious meal, a good experience and I am glad that I have tried it.

As for me, this is not something that i would be eating too often, maybe once awhile.

A Solo Ride to SS2 on a Folding Bike with a Detour

It was a Sunday morning after taking my mother to the market for our usual chore and suddenly I had an urge to cycle to SS2 to meet my wife at her dad's place. And here was I ready to pedal. From Setiawangsa to Kg Datuk Keramat and then "take me there" Chow Kit Road.I wanted to check out a vehicle at Ipoh Road and passed by this building where I was a part of the development whichtransformeda sawmill to a shopping mall and also this was the sawmill where famous Botak Chin was shot & caught here.Opposite Kompleks Mutiara still stand some old bungalows of this design which will soon be gone for development so I thought it's a good idea to capture this image before we could not see it again. At NCK Motor, Jalan Ipoh on a folding bike. From Ipoh Road I found my way northwards to Kepong Roundabout and turned into Jalan Kepong. which I ended to this garden called Taman Kok Doh.I cycled to the fringe of the housing scheme surrounded by squatters and came out of the area via this road Lorong Kelapa Bulan which leads to Jalan Kelapa Bulan.Jalan Kelapa Bulan looks like a newly built road.
From the Coconut Moon Road I came to Taman Megah not in PJ but in Kepong with name like Udang Gantung (what a funny name we have). I was totally lost and was seeking for familiar road.

After passing through the neighbourhood of Kepong Baru I managed to hit Jalan Lang Emas which leads to Segambut after a turn from Jalan Helang Sewah where there is a church at the junction called Bethany Chapel.I need to move towards Kiara and got to this turning that leads to Jalan Segambut.Jalan Segambut is a narrow road and a short cut for many users travelling between Kepong and Kiara areas. The surroundings are mostly Malay houses with kampong setting which is known as Kampong Segambut Dalam. Imagine it was called the interior Segambut and sounds remote back in those days. Now you see the contrast of the old and the new, Mont Kiara is of modern skyscrappers and slowly creeping and taking over the old area.As you move further on the same road of Jalan Kiara 3 you will see this Garden International the right.Desa Sri Hartamas comes next in the route, a vibrant commercial centre popular for both local & expatriates.Subsequently I was on Sprint Highway a pretty long stretch and luckily the traffic was not heavy on a Sunday.I moved into the slip road of Phileo Damansara and proceeded to Taman Tan Sri Lee Yan Lian and Section 17 which all are mostly friendlier roads of housing schemes.
SS2 is just next to Section 17 and if you know the short cut it's really near and safe. At the front of the new shopping mall "SS2 Mall".

At last I reached my destination with my father in-law and wife waiting for me. It was a 38km ride, a good and nice exercise on a beautiful Sunday. My wife then ferried me back home in a comfortable and air conditioned automobile.
