Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt @ The Gardens Mall, Kuala Lumpur

Yummy yummy in my tummy...

Baby C with her froyo

It was the school holidays last week. Baby C has been asking me to take her for froyo (she only wants Moo Cow since she got a free sample before from this place and remembered it) during the school holidays. Since she has been a very good girl, I promised to take her there. Froyo has a little tart taste, but surprisingly Baby C loves it.. maybe cos it's cold and it tastes like ice-cream! Froyo is very similar to ice-cream but is made of milk instead of cream.

This dessert is not only delicious, it is also low in calories and high in calcium and protein. In fact, it contains a higher content of calcium per 100g when compared to milk and cheese! Moo Cow is the most impressive frozen yogurt in terms of calcium content, with a whopping 844.3mg of calcium per 100g serving.

Other than being high in calcium, FroYo also contains all the beneficial ingredients of yogurt such as probiotics (the good bacteria) with health benefits ranging from boosting the immune system, helping digestion, lowering cholesterol as well as combating stress and allergies. Frozen yoghurt needs to have 107 viable live and active lactic acid bacteria per gram at time of manufacture in order to be effective, and Moo Cow contains 1.8 x 107 acido philusbifidus thermophilus, as analysed by the Chemical Laboratory of Malaysia.

Here at Moo Cow, you can! either get the original flavour or the flavours of the month. The original flavour with one topping is RM9.90 and additional topping is RM1. We chose the original with chocolate chips. The froyo is creamy and not too sweet. Am not an expert on froyo but this was definitely delicious.

Small outlet but very quirky and cute decor

Posing with the "animals"... (told her to pretend she was on a farm)

Cute names for cute animals

Making sure she doesn't miss a bit

She sure loves Moo Cow :)

Baby C likes it when the cow at the front goes moooooooooooo

And of course, a visit to The Gardens Mall is not complete without a visit to Baby C's favorite Japanese restaurant - Kita No Zen/Hokkaido Ichiba (you can read my previous review here and here). The food as usual was very good and good value for money.

Nabeyaki udon and salmon don set (RM32) - we always order this, it's one of our favorite sets. I let Hubby have it this time since it's a huge portion and I didn't think I could finish it by myself

Tobiko makes it all better

Chicken katsu set with mini udon (RM28) - have ordered this several times, love the chicken katsu as it is very moist with a crispy skin

Chicken ! katsu cl oseup

We love playing with our food. ;P

And of course, Baby C also got her favorite all butter animal biscuits from Marks and Spencer. The reward for being a good girl.

Cheapest entertainment for kids, watching the fountain... cost = free. LOL
And the best part is that they love it. Highly recommended.

Say hello to Pocoyo

Chef Lagenda @ Flemington

The locals say that the people behind Chef Lagenda were originally partners at Laksa King. How true that is, I guessed I haven't bothered to investigate. If Laksa King has so far exceeded expectations (although its been somewhat limited to their curry laksa and prawn mee, their "ipoh" hor fun was sad), wouldn't that mean Chef Lagenda should be just as good?

However its been hard trying to compare apple to oranges; we had dinner here and ordered ala carte dishes while Laksa King has been limited to just the noodles. So till we decide to have ala carte over at Laksa King or have laksa here, I guess I will never know.

Some have said this place is a little quieter than Laksa King but judging from our last visit, it appears to be just as crowded.

The menu is again split between your noodles and one plate rice dishes and the ala carte menu. You will see the menu is more Malaysian Chinese orientated with familiar items like the pork belly with yam, the assam fish or the curry chicken. If you happen to be from Malaysia, this is one of the better places to have food you will usually get at home.

With a choice of white rice, coconut rice or chicken rice; order the coconut one if you want to order the curry chicken. Perfect with lashings of the rich coconut gravy and the tender chicken pieces.

Wu Tao Kao Yoke or Steamed pork belly with yam is another of my favourites but not exactly the healthiest of dishes. I am not too sure about the yam though, I think it required a bit more cooking. Perfect with rice.

We had a stir fry prawns, while every prawn I had was juicy and fresh, we had a couple on the plate that were perhaps past their prime. Lucky me but it also means there's no QC to check whether the prawns have gone bad.

Its funny how we rarely order Kangkung when we are back in Malaysia but crave for it when we are overseas. So obviously we had to have some done Belachan style. Perhaps not the best but good enough to remind you of home.

Its one of those places you keep in your pockets for the times you want to have a meal that reminds you of home, whether it is the laksa or the ala carte dishes you eat with you family on weekends.

Beware of the crowd and the noise, it is almost impossible to have a proper conversation here.

Verdict: 4 stars out of 5 stars. Malaysian Chinese food, anyone?

YouTube Makes Its Official Debut in Malaysia

Youtube Malaysia was officially launched just a few hours ago.

YouTube launch in Malaysia-003

There was the usual speeches, started off withSajith Sivanandan, Country Manager, Google Malaysia and followed byAdam Smith, Director of Product Management of YouTube, Asia Pacific.

YouTube launch in Malaysia-005

I was rather distracted by Adam, though I wish it was because of his mind-blowing speech rather than his resemblance to Hugh Grant.

YouTube launch in Malaysia-004

I mean, really, doesnt he look like Hugh Grant??

.

But I digress.

YouTube launch in Malaysia-002

The new local version of worlds most popular online video site aims to help Malaysiansdiscover their favorite videos and spread Malaysian content even further across the globe.
Frankly, I dont see how having a local site ! makes an y difference since the global one has anyhow, spread our local videos far & wide (remember Rosmahs video?). On a more positive note, Yuna is a good example of local content being discovered and has had a positive impact on all of us.

And in recognition of this, a deal was signed with Music Authors Copyright Protection so that Malaysian songwriters andcomposers benefit financially from having their videos on YouTube.

YouTube would also be working closely with Malaysian media companies like Astro Malaysia and KRUStudios to providefree satellite TV service.

My ears perked up at that. Unfortunately, not much was elaborated on it. From what I can garner from the press release, Njoi,Astros free satellite TV service has a partnership withYouTube andoffers a unique service that willmake learning, information, entertainment, key sporting events availableto all Malaysians for free. The addition of selected Njoi content on YouTube is one of manyways they are making it easy for all Malaysians to enjoy quality content.

For the launch week, YouTube has also secured masthead advertisement on the YouTube Malaysiahome page from Dutch Lady, Malaysia Airlines, Maxis, Standard Chartered.
So yes, more ad revenue.

Below: The Revolution of the Television. I loved this!

Trip, Shanghai

Again, another restaurant recommended by Sugared & Spiced, my food guide on my recent trip to Shanghai.

I was tempted by the post on Organ, a homey Japanese cafe that served Japanese dishes with a modern twist. However, the restaurant had moved to another place and is now renamed Trip. We were to meet relatives for dinner that night but with our tight schedule, we had to squeeze in Trip that same evening or miss it altogether. I insisted, telling Hub that I just wanted a light snack. Yi had no idea where Hongmei Lu was, even though she had been in SH for a year so the three of us took a taxi out to the Hongmei Lu area, which is also where Korea Town is. It turned out to be a 40-minute drive and cost us RMB45/MYR23/USD7.70 which is costly considering that the normal taxi fare we usually incurred was RMB20/MYR10/USD3.30 or less.

Trip is hidden behind an entrance beyond which is an enclave of new international restaurants. Yi said the area is residence to many expats, which explains the existence of such a good selection of restaurants. She recognized the area when we got there because that was where "the other airport" is.

Trip didn't look as fun and comfy as Organ. It is comfy and simple but nothing like the photos I saw of Organ. We were early (4 pm), and the kitchen wasn't opened yet. The pretty Japanese girl made up for the disappointment; she was friendly, soft spoken and had big bright eyes. She spoke in Mandarin. She went into the kitchen and started on the soy milk cake. I watched her make it. It's chiffon cake made with soybean milk instead of regular milk or water. She said our order will take 8 minutes. I've never baked a chiffon cake in 8 minutes but who knows what people can do now.

The black curry with rice (RMB40/MYR20/USD6.70) was the only savory item available. It was good Japanese curry but the half-raw egg was kind of messed up.

I made a change to our order, choosing the offer of three small pieces of cake and one coffee/tea (RMB70 something). The trio are Trip's best cakes, including the soy milk cake. This change was a bad choice. The soy milk cake was not the one the pretty girl had just baked. It came cold and within 8 minutes so I realized that had I not changed my order, I would have had the freshest baked soy milk cake. This piece of cake was a disappointment because the chiffon was not a success. The texture was that of a compressed chiffon; yo! u can te ll from the photo too (extreme left). The choc brownie was good but not as good as the one I ate back home in KK, at a cafe called La Fetta in Lintas (next to Party Play).

Ah, but then this came.Honey toast (RMB40/MYR20/USD6.70).

Beautifully described by Sugared & Spiced as "...smoking hot and smelling like heaven, it washalf a loaf of bread, with the soft center first carved out, spread with butter, baked till the both the base and the loose pieces are golden brown, drizzled with honey, pieced back together, drizzled with more honey, then topped with scoops of vanilla ice-cream, fresh strawberries and banana slices, and a flurry of powdered sugar and cinnamon powder."

Someone please make this for me!

Can you imagine the sight and taste of a loaf of crusty bread (could be even better if more toasted) with super fluffy soft bread inside soaked with delicious melted butter, sweetened by yummy vanilla ice cream and flavored by strawberries and bananas?! The best thing is, I didn't feel as guilty eating it as I would if I ate cake or pastry. It's just bread right. Right.

We walked to the metro. Itwas bitterly cold and the wind made it unbeara! ble. It cost us RMB3 each to our next destination, another restaurant, back into the city. I think the honey toast was awesome but honestly, I don't think that I'd go all the way out to Hongmei Lu just for Trip. I'm sure there are other restaurants in the city where I can get similar dishes.

Tsun Jin School - Ever Improving Facilities for the School

Besides being a contractor for the school extension we have also donated for the school development fund which we are proud of it.
The orchestra room which is not a common facility seen in any secondary school and the students in Tsun Jin School are really lucky to have such opportunity.

Something I really envywhichI don't get to lay my hands on these instruments when I was in school.A final inspection before we are relieved from any further defects found in the works but we shall be around to assist the school if there is anything we can help.
The landscape has grown and set in beautifully with the new extension and amenities.
