From now on, bottles of sugar cane liquor or Brazilian rum, will be sold in the US under its proper name, cachaa, while Brazil will likewise recognise bourbon and Tennessee whiskey as official spirits from the US.
Heres a collection of cocktail recipe ideas to fete this new agreement:
Cachaa
Known as the official cocktail of Brazil, caipirinha is made with limes, raw or regular sugar and cachaa. Check out Epicurious.com for that and other cachaa recipes like the Pearl Button, which calls for lime juice and Lillet, a fortified wine from France. The Amazonia, meanwhile, is made with lime juice, apple juice, sparkling wine and mint leaves.
Drinksmixer.com also offers dozens of cocktail recipes which make creative use of cachaa, beyond caipirinha. Cocktails are made with everything from pineapples, coconut milk, mangos, passion fruit and banana liqueur.
Bourbon
Popular food blog Seriouseats.com also offers a slew of bourbon cocktail recipes like the Mint Julep, made with fresh mint, sugar and crushed ice and the Boulevardier spiked with Campari and sweet vermouth.
Whiskey
And Delish.com also offers whiskey cocktail recipes that range from the classics such as the Manhattan, to grapefruit-flavored drinks like The Big Texan. Marcus Samuelssons Cranberry Cheer calls for lime juice, syrup and cranberries, while the Emerald is spiked with vermouth and orange bitters. AFP-Relaxnews
