Tokutoku: Round Two. Earlier entry: June 13.
Yakitori platter of chicken meat, gizzard & skin. Customers can have their skewers cooked with salt or tare sauce. Both seem to offer a subtly sweet, smoky flavor.
Oden, a hearty, healthy stew. Everything in this tastes terrific, from the boiled egg to the radish & konnyaku _ a gray, gelatinous jelly that's always texturally fascinating.
Sushi platter. Our favorite is the slice topped with otoro _ the fattiest portion of tuna belly _ which boasts a sumptuousness reminiscent of pork belly.
Steamed burdock with egg. Tastes home-cooked, in the best sense.
Beautifully savory miso soup with asari clams. A fitting finish to a fab feast.
A sweet sake variant, not as dry as others that we've tried.
