The place was packaged when we, myself as good as Cooksister, arrived late for lunch. Half awaiting the advance booking to have been cancelled as good as the list allocated to more matched city types; similar to the place indispensable anymore! Noisy, buzzy, comfortable and, well, really pleasant. Our discerning lunch spread out somewhat in to the afternoon (trusting which Cooksister didn't get as good much of the ticking off upon her lapse to work good after 3:30!) by which time the suits had returned to their cubicles or fine-view corner offices as good as we were alone in the red bricked lower grill area.
The Bar Battu food menu is reduced as good as decent - they encourage the sharing of meals as good as do not army upon the up-selling... the booze list full of temptation...
"Bar Battu is something brand brand new for the Square Mile, the City's initial healthy booze bar. Natural wines have been all about purity as good as an honesty of expression, booze which reflects not usually the land it has come from though the values as good as qualities of the rancher who has made it. Often of march sparkling as good as unfiltered, they enclose small or no sulphur as good as no preservatives. We think they have been illusory as good as during times ! even min d blowing, which is because we want to shout about them. Learning about healthy booze is both easy as good as hard. Some of Bar Battu's wines have been marked with Semi Wild/Wild (particularly absolute in ambience or pungent), Cloudy (unfiltered as good as unfined) with most being Biodynamic. It is weighted to wines from France with the smattering of Italian as good as Spanish wines; zero else.
We restricted ourselves to the carafe of Spanish Ros (Bodega Rubio, Rioja Clarete 2009, just 9 for the 500ml carafe) it was lunch after-all, which while delicate as good as peaceful was undiluted with the Cornish Sardines as good as the rabbit rillet (5.95) we selected for the starter though overpowered the touch by the categorical march selections of black sausage (boudin noir, mash, glassy apple as good as calvados jus 9.25) as good as the chefs special of gnocchi though. A potion of something more estimable would have been my preference though with Cooksister wanting to head back to the bureau as good as the booze tasting for me later which day (after the single in the morning) mutilated which idea.
The food was simply boundless - from the presentation of the 'just- cooked' fish in an oversized sardine tin (5.oo for dual fish) though to the melting texture of the sausage all was just perfect. The gnocchi, with the chopped tomatoes as good as p! epper sa lsa (9 for large, categorical march portion), were during their fluffiest supreme, no stodge here, the generous dip of rillets perfectly seasoned with the pleasant country texture. There was no room for dessert though the potion of Armaganac as good as the single of Poire William, both complementary, sealed the day.
Two starters, dual categorical course, bread, dual coffees as good as the cheap carafe of booze plus 12.5% service charge came in during 50.74. The booze list offers plenty of interest; if we have been heading to London rarely recommended. Pre-booking advisable.
