Doing the Dish on the Weekend Brunch...

I could see the Dua Residence across the road. To use a Malay phrase, "ludah pun sampai", (even if you spit, the spit will reach the place), ie, very near la, but so near yet so far, coz it took me another 10 minutes to make the U Turn at RSGC. And this on a Saturday morning. Brunch. Tapas brunch. An invite by the gregarious Poh Lin, of the Delicious Group. Stressful, because UMei Teh of CC Food Travel kept watsapping me to find out where I was, as I was a teeny weeny bit late.

"After a culinary holiday to San Sebastien (no less! We plebs only get to go Penang), Chef Steve Allen, E&O's Group Creative Chef, enjoyed the delightful tapas tradition beloved by the Spanish so much, that he had the concept re-enacted in the UK where it became quite popular. Now diners in Kuala Lumpur have the pleasure of sampling Steve's take on this". [Paraphrased press release]

Fresh from the stress of the jam, like that first touch of the masseuse in a spa treatment, I felt all the stress dissipate, as I laid eyes on the brunch spread that lay before....spread, lay, oh my, ...

Smoked Salmon With Scrambled Eggs - Talk about your ultimate comfort food...if you were Scandinavian. Creamy melt in the mouth eggs. Okay, now bear in mind that this is my personal opinion only, and to each his own. This tapas is a buffet tapas, as in you can order as much as you want. So, just like a buffet, one has to be discerning, and not fill oneself up with nasi goreng, and miss out on the wagyu, ..so as we trundle along, I shall indicate which dishes would be high priority when I revisit to have this brunch.

Photobucket
Eggs benedict - yummmehhh, two portions for me please. It does come on a slice of err...turkey bacon, so I would not mind having the eggs sans bacon, coz sorry to say, if it aint oinking, it aint bacon.

Photobucket
Boiled egg, focaccia soldiers, who must have been trained hard in battle. Love eggs with runny yolks, so really, any of these aforementioned eggs would be on my must have list.

Photobucket
Poached egg (this particular one was poached from a rather high paying job in a famous henhouse) with tomato on whole grain bread. Actually, now that I think about it, I do not like the textures of the whites in poached eggs.

Photobucket
Ah, beware the tummy filler....avoid this like the plague, no matter HOW GOOD it tastes. It soaks up liquid like a sponge, and expands in your tummy till you look like Jabba con! stipated .

The lovely Delicious Ingredients and Dish...

Photobucket
Come to Daddy, you beauty.....Savignon Blanc, Malborough, all my favourite words in one label. Drinking before noon, or thereabouts, always gives me a sense of wellbeing.

Photobucket
If you're going to be having an alcoholic bubbly brunch, you might do it Syn-fully.

Photobucket
Acovado and Crab Salad. Two of this please, my good man....larverly. Luscious avocado, with generous portions of crab meat. Peeling crab is a labour of love, so give me more love.

Photobucket
Mediterranean Styled Tapas, with olives, cherry tomatoes, and baby mozarellas..Very the healthy, of course...the type of stuff U Mei Teh and her lanky frame would indulge...
At one point, after ingesting the baby mozarellas, which I had mistaken for feta, the topic of favourite cheeses came up, and U Mei announced that her favourite was Haloumi.

Aren't we quite the epitome of wit...or witlessness...

Photobucket
The stuff disguising as a white pickle is actually Cured Halibut. The green stuff is pickled cucumber.

Photobucket
And rather incongruously, french beans with sambal. Not sure which beanstalk this fell out of the sky from.

Photobucket
Dish Caesar - Lovely fresh and rather humongous prawn, so let's Caesar Day. Carpe Diem.

Photobucket
In the pasta category, there's the sundried tomato linguine with olives and fatter... oops, feta...

Photobucket
Carbonara with ...sigh, beef bacon.... Ooh, but what a great way to have carbonara. I love carbonara, but I could never order one whole portion for myself. The first bite is always thrilling, the second, okay, but by the third bite, I feel like I am going to explode...a bit like some of my ex-dates...

Photobucket
Tomato Risotto with black olive tapenade. Confession, I am not a risotto fan.

Photobucket
Paprika Chicken with sweetcorn and mushrooms. No complaints here, but not somet! hing I&# 39;d have more than one of.

Photobucket
When the effects of Ketu and Syn kick in....this is what your guests are likely to do.

Photobucket
Pan fried fillet of salmon.

Photobucket
Roasted Red Emperor, lemon grass sauce. Very nice, I love this fish. Two please. Firm, but not fishy, nor tough, and tastes very clean, if you know what I mean. The other fish choice is salt baked cod with red pepper sauce.

Photobucket
Thai Calamari. Also in the shellfish section are clams and mussels with apple and chilli padi.

Photobucket
Grilled Tiger Prawn with a herb and chilli salsa....or you can merengue too...for with dessert, you get (From top left, clockwise, in pic below), Merengue with grilled Strawberries and sorbet, (okay okay, Meringue la duhh), Green guava crumble with caramel ice cream (hats off for the use of local ingredients!), Chocolate mousse and jack fruit, and caramel chocolate delice with lime ice cream.
