Good Morning from Singapore! Day 2 in Singapore (May 2012)... we woke up to a beautiful view.. nice?

During our last visit, we had English breakfast at Wild Honey, however this time we decided to have a Japanese breakfast. Since we wanted to go shopping at Orchard Road, we hunted for some Japanese food there. Most ramen shops open at 11am on a Sunday (10am and I was hungry!), so we went to Takashimaya Food Hall in the basement 2 level since I remember seeing lots of Japanese eateries the last time we were here.

The first shop that caught my eye was Tsuru-Koshi Udon :) The menu includes illustration of the udon, prices start from S$6.50 for a kake udon up to S$10 for an ebi tempura udon. Click here for the full menu.
Since we wanted to try other things around here, we shared a bowl of Atutu Tan Tan Udon (S$9), served with Chinese hot sauce. Basically, the "hot sauc! e" is ma po tofu style pork mince... slightly spicy.
In KL, our favorite udon spot is Sanuki Udon in Taman Desa. How did Tsuru-koshi Udon fare against Sanuki? Fortunately, very very well. We enjoyed our Atutu tan tan udon very much - the noodles had a nice bite and smooth. The poached egg was nicely done, and mixed together with the pork mince and scallions, it was flavourful and delicious. A big thumbs up from us.

Service: Despite being in a food hall, you place your order at the counter and they bring the noodles to you when ready. Good.
