The folks who operate Mukha have opened Souka, a little bakery-cafe that's loaded with enough sweet treats to energize all the inhabitants of TTDI with a sugar high.
Main entry on Mukha: September 12, 2011.
The selection _ ample & attractive _ caused us to stare dumbfounded at the counter, unable to narrow our choices. But in the end, we couldn't resist the uber-luscious carrot walnut cake & the ultra-creamy custard puff.
Even at night, everything tastes fresh; the red velvet cake was marvelously moist, though marginally less flavorsome than the best ones out there.
Scones, brownies, banoffee pies, Mars bar cheesecakes, peanut butter tarts, pavlovas, madeleines & eclairs _ the blackboard menu is bursting with temptations. Daily specials also seem to be available _ if you're lucky, there might be a richly sticky butterscotch-&-chocolate banana mu! ffin wai ting for you here.
It was nearly 9pm, but a warm tray of newly baked bread-&-butter pudding suddenly emerged to excite the surprisingly strong weeknight crowd. We had to get some to take away _ fluffy & studded with sultanas. Or were they raisins?
Chocolate chip cookies _ the cute, crunchy kind. Kids will love 'em.
Craving desserts but seeking something healthier? Drive five minutes to 1 Utama & head to the new organic outlet, Opika, for artisan ice cream. The vanilla flavor tastes excellent _ not overly saccharine, with a fascinatingly milky-grainy texture.
Main entry on Opika: February 16, 2012.
Cold food goes well with hot drinks, right? Pair the ice cream with Opika's latte.
