Restaurant Orphe, Regensburg, Germany

One evening, whilst upon foot along a cobblestoned streets of Regensburg, my crony as great as you detected Restaurant L'Orphe. Our initial revisit here was for a cup of coffee, or in my friends case, tea. We also had a soup of a day, pumpkin soup, as great as some crpes which assured us which you had to come back for their in progress offerings.

This restaurant serves French cuisine with a dash of Mediterranean aptitude as great as is considered a most accurate French bistro east of a River Rhine. The cuisine here is not utterly Michelin-star peculiarity glorious dining though some-more simple, no-frills as great as classical French in progress with a touch of elegance.

Visitors into a restaurant have been greeted with a comfortable as great as cosy atmosphere, an accurate old propagandize setting without being pretentious. The walls have been ornate with classical posters as great as it is clear which these have been not gimmicks to debonair up a 'oldness' of a place. Having been built in 1896, a interior has not changed much; it still retains a original wainscoting as great as wood partitions. The place is partitioned into 2 parts; a front bistro area of a restaurant with a marble as great as wooden tables, red plush settees as great as a bar, as great as a rear dining area with a some-more formal setting with a distinguishable Thonet chairs as great as brighter lighting.

Having not done reservations, you had no preference of seats, as a restaurant was packed with customers. However, after a short wait, you managed to take seats by a wall in a bistro area.

Warm bread to start

I had a starter of Escargots la basquaise (7.20 for 6 snails). This starter was comprehensive genius; a multiple of plump, juicy escargots with a sauteed mushrooms, tomatoes as great as garlic surfaced with olive oil, parsley as great as gratined croutons was absolutely gorgeous. you dripping up every bit of a olive oil mixture with my bread.

My fellow diner had a starter of Coquille St. Jacques (10.80); easily parched scallops surfaced with tomatoes as great as scallions. Whilst a scallops were fresh, you were somewhat unhappy with a flavour as great as a fact which it was substantially parched a bit too lightly.

Moving upon to a mains, my fellow diner had a glorious selle d'agneau (17,80); lamb loin la Provence served with a pumpkin mash, potato gratin as great as shredded vegetables. The lamb was tender as great as paired very great with a alternative components.

Having had an glorious starter, you was not so lucky with my main this time, a cleverly named mnage trois (24,00). The prized trio of monkfish, prawns as great as scallops were served in a saffron-infused consomm. The consomm was flavoursome as great as a seafood upon a own uninformed as great as well-cooked, though you was not overly tender with a plate as a whole.

The mains were gone as great as right away it was time for dessert. Due to a vast portions served for a mains, you motionless to share a dessert; opting for a lukewarm chocolate souffl served with crme Chantilly (7.80). The rich chocolate in a light, feathery souffl tasted fantastic with a sourish thickk cream as great as ensured a in progress ended upon a tall note.

Verdict: We were really gratified with a food as great as a sourroundings at L'Orphee. A great haunt for a classic, hearty French meal.

Service: Good. Service was prompt as great as friendly.
Price: A bit upon a tall side. The bill came up to 80 including drinks.
