Sushitei 2012 CNY Premium Yee Sang and Winter Promotions

New year is just over and in less than one month time, Chinese New Year is coming up. This year every Chinese will celebrate it with a bang as the year of the dragon is the most important one. I dont know much about the details but as usual this year I am trying something special under the invited review from Sushitei. Most of the invites were by Chinese restaurants but this time Japanese style.

Yee Sang tossing ceremony do not exist in Japan. But at Sushitei, they are creating a premium version which consist of high quality ingredients which most of them were air flown in.

The normal condiments for Yee Sang freshly prepared by the kitchen upon order except the crackers which pre ordered.

Thick premium cut Maguro and Salmon to be added to the yee sang

Fresh prawn cubes.

The Yee Sang is available from 24th Jan 2012 onwards and will only available within 21 days from the date.

A side from Yee Sang tossing ceremony, there are a Winter Menu which available for limited edition. Below were some of the selections which we ordered from the Winter Menu and some from their all time signature menu.

Mame Aji Karaage, RM15.80

Deep fried baby Mackerel Fish

Tara Shirako Karaage, RM49.80

Tara seasonal codfish, is known for its mild flavor and flaky texture, available only during the winter season in Japan. Shirako, the sperm sacs of the male specimens of Tara codfish is an extremely popular delicacy in Japan. Recommended as this is a seasonal item.

Sakura Ebi Fura Fura, RM13.80
Deep fried breaded tofu ball with prawn. Crunch on the outside and soft inside.

Paired with cabbage on plum sauce to reduce the oily feeling after popping in the tofu ball with prawn. Apart from the Yee Sang, most of the families having steamboat during the New Year eve. Here at Sushitei, it is done with Sukiyaki.

While waiting for the sukiyaki to pop, you can order from the Winter Menu for platter of fresh premium sushi.

Deep fried soft shell crab roll with cheese, sinfully good!

Salmon Mentaiko Sushitei Signature Grill Salmon Sushi with cheese. A MUST order dish when paying Sushitei a visit.

Tropical Dragon Roll, RM20.80
Interesting combination, banana, king prawn and roe sushi. Surprisingly good! Normally people did it with dragon fruit or avocado. This is very creative resulting research from vigorous feedback from the market wanted something new.

Chawan mushi

Do you notice that this cup of chawan mushi is different from the normal one? It is covered with plenty of fish roe. Pop Pop Pop! Max Satisfaction when eating them!

This is the holy dish which myself and Eric never fail to order! No one can resist this crunchy and fragrant deep fried chicken skins.
