  • Burger King tests out bacon sundae in US

Burger King is testing out a bacon sundae in its Nashville outlets. Picture by Bonchan/Shutterstock
NEW YORK, April 12 Word on the street is that after launching a new menu to much fanfare earlier this month, Burger King is testing out an ice cream sundae studded with bacon.

Following Dennys wild success with their Maple Bacon Sundae last year, Burger King seems to be borrowing a page from their playbook. According to a tipster who provided photographic evidence of the new product to food blog GrubGrade, outlets in Nashville are testing out a slew of new regionalised products that include a bacon sundae, pulled pork and Texas barbecue sandwiches and sweet potato fries.

Ads for the dessert show a strip of crispy bacon embellishing a chocolate fudge sundae.

Like last years Dennys launch which saw news of the product go viral, tweeps are again weighing in, with reaction ranging from excitement to disgust.

Absolutely disgusted that Burger King has a Bacon Sundae. Seriously America... , reads one disenchanted Twitter user.

News that Burger King is testing out the novelty flavour combination comes just one week after the fast food chain unveiled a menu overhaul and launched a star-studded advertising campaign across North America that includes pitchmen like David Beckham, Salma Hayek, Jay Leno, Steven Tyler and Sofia Vergara.

The launch has not been without its hitches. A commercial featuring Mary J. Blige, for instance, was pulled after critics charged it perpetuated racial stereotypes about the African-American community. The ad was for new Crispy Chicken Salad Wraps.

The aggressive ad campaign and menu makeover are all attempts by the chain to recapture its position as the second largest revenue-generating fast food chain after McDonalds. This year, Wendys overtook the long-time rival. AFP/Relaxnews

    Avocado Asparagus Tartine

I'm a bit distracted. In the best way possible. In the way I get now and then when I'm excited about an idea or a prospect. It started in Portland last month, when I had a happenstance chat with a couple of ladies I admire very much. They gave me the little nudge I needed to start thinking more seriously about a project I'd been casually tossing around in the back of my mind for years. Something fun, something related to what I already do, but something I haven't (exactly) tried before. Vague, I know. It's early in the process. Anyway, the rabbit hole is deep, and I feel like I'm way down in it. I've been caught up in inspiration boards, and ideas, and list-making, and all the things that happen when an idea shifts from the abstract to "let's try it?"...Correspondingly, meals have been scavenged from whatever ingredients are within eight feet of where I'm currently sitting. Which, let's be honest, doesn't always yield something I'm proud of. That said, lunch on Monday was pretty great, and dead simple. I smeared avocado across toasted day-old slabs of sesame bread, layered a bit of arugula and a few stalks of garlicky caraway-sprinkled asparagus on that, then finished it up with a few pepitas.

These little open-faced tartines took less than ten minutes to pull together, and ended up being the epitome of spring. I suspect I'll be eating more of them in the coming weeks. Give them a try, and in the meantime, I'm going to try and make a f! ew thing s happen on this end so I can share a more details related to what I've been up to. xo -h

    Malaysian Cuisine @ Matahari Grill

Rick just bought a new car and wanted to head downtown for dinner to parade his new ride. Initially we were planning to try out Guu's latest Sakabar on Bloor St. but the 45 minute wait time was too long for our stomachs to handle. Our next option was Matahari Grill a Malaysian Restaurant which I haven't visited for over 8 years.

    Stir-Fried Vermicelli
    Stir-Fried Vermicelli
The one dish I still remember from 8 years ago was Matahari Grill's Vermicelli. The Vermicelli was stir-fried in a soy-based gravy and was delicious.

    Grilled Sea Bass Sambal
    Grilled Sea Bass with Sambal
The Grilled Sea Bass was a little dry but the Sambal Paste was quite aromatic.

    Chicken Curry
    Curry Chicken
Their Chicken Curry was a little watered down for my liking.

    Roti Canai
    Roti Canai
Nothing spectacular. The Roti ! Canai ta sted like it's from a frozen package.

    Beef Rendang
    Beef Rendang
The Beef Rendang was fork tender and tasted similar to what you could get in Malaysia. It was my favorite dish of the night besides the Vermicelli.

    Char Koay Teow
    Char Koay Teow
This was so-so. The Koay Teow was a little too soggy.

her breakfast. Well, today, I amfulfilling my promise to her
to make this Scramble Eggs With Tomato.
The picture said a thousand words. It is delicious and easy to make.

    delicious food.
When my children told me that their friends envy them of having a mother
who love to cook for them, I feel happy becausethey are telling
their friends this and that foodthat their mother iscooking for them.
Another incident, my husband friend's niece bought some cheese tarts
and my husband commented it was not delicious....my wife's cheese tart
is better and delicious....see my face :) you know what I mean.

    1 ripe Tomato.
    3tbsp of Milk.
    3 Eggs.

Dice the Tomato to your desire sizes.
Break the eggs and put in 1/2 teaspoon of Salt and Pepper.
3tbsp Milk (roo! m temper ature).

    Lastly, pour in the Milk.

Whisk with fork for a few seconds or until all combined.

Heat the non stick pan with oil or butter.

Pour in the eggs batter into the non stock pan.

(Note : Do not go anywhere, you have to work very fast)

Use yourspatula to push the eggs batter from the outer side to the middle.

(Note : Do not go anywhere, you have to work very fast)

Work round the non stick pan by pushing the outer side to the middle.

Once you saw the eggs batter like the above picture,
pour in the diced Tomato to the eggs batter and also

My daughter gave me a thump up. Today, her stomach is very happy and contented.
She finished the whole plate (not this plate....the other bigger plate).
Ha! Ha! Ha! How I wish my husband and son were around to savour it.
