BM Thai Food

eat Food Village @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas

Though Xmas is over but I still have a back log of postings that needs to be posted. Here we were at Publika for a dinner, a highly recommended place for makan at eat Food Village.
A very neat and nice place for food though it was a quiet evening when we came but I understand it is always crowded during lunch hours. I like the concept with many popular names picked for all the food stalls. Names like Kin Kin, Sentul Yap's Hokkien Mee, BM Yam Rice etc etc.... And the best part of it is the quality of food is as good as the originals. That was a surprise to me. Thanks to "The Management" for maintaining the good quality, Well done indeed.

Kin Kin's all popular dry & spicy pan mee - Thumb up.Penang Lobak from Lorong Seratus Tahun was good as far as KL hunt is concerned.Sentul Ah Yap's Hokkien Fried Noodle as sinful as the ori and superbly good.Wan Tan Noodle (Hong Kee's) was good that my son would not want it to be shared, the ch! ar siew was gorgeous according him. He wanted more but sorry maybe... maybe next round my son.....
The Ham Choy soup was unanimously graded a good liking by us. Well done BM Yam Rice.
The BM Yam rice and their soy sauce egg & tofu, what a wonderful meal at Publika.

I like coming to this place, it was a smooth drive from home, no parking hassle and most importantly the food is good. Nothing like going to Lot 10 or Pavillion. Eat Food Village is ideal, I will come back!!!

It's a long & winding road from KL to this Chinese restaurant, which features a poolside view that might look pretty during the daytime, when most of Cyberjaya isn't draped in darkness.

Amid the absence of any other customers for dinner, we had this pork-free outlet to ourselves from the very first course: double-boiled pumpkin soup _ fragrant & piping-hot, with plenty of tiny pieces of pumpkin, prawns & other seafood.

Boiled amaranth soup with fish paste & flossy egg white. A clear broth that tasted fairly healthy. Prices here are OK; a filling meal for two can be had for under RM100.

Roasted 'pi pa' duck, in what seemed to be some sort of peanut gravy. Bony, though flavorsome enough to get a passing grade.

Oven-roasted duck, 'Hong Kong-style.! ' The sk in was crisp, but parts of the meat were chewy.

Cantonese crispy egg noodles with king prawns. Not as tasty as KL's best sang har meen, though still respectable, thanks to the plump prawns & thick broth.

Como Sur Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile). Wine is available by the glass.

Worth the drive to Cyberjaya? Probably not. But if you're already in the area, then maybe.

Update on the Road Trip

1500km done and 250km to go, Lots of Cravings is almost reaching Melbourne, stay tune!

Kenny Rogers Roasters launches Dynasty Chicken Set and 3 delightful milkshakes!

We can all usher in the Chinese New Year in our own little ways.

While the 8 course traditional set dinners/lunch are the norm, there are numerous F & B outlets that capitalises on the festive seasons and launched their creative versions of festive offerings.

These outlets cleverly utilises the symbolic ingredients of the festival, for example cinnamon and raisin for Christmas, dates and rendang for Raya and mandarin oranges for Chinese New Year.

Kenny Roger Roasters 2012 CNY muffins is one example.

Im a huge fan of KRRs muffins, especially the banana one. Their mandarin orange version debuted last year and its back for 2012!

The moist muffin is best eaten hot, and its citrusy bouquet evokes the reminisce of jovial and loud cheer synonymous with Chinese New Year.

Oh, not to mention the din of Chinese New Year songs thats played on the loop in the malls to the wet markets and coffee shops. Yes people, Chinese New Year is upon us!! :)

Theres a CNY version of KRRs famous Rotisserie-roasted quarter chicken as well. The chicken is marinated with a natural blend of herbs, spices and citrus zest, and then topped with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce with pineapple chunks.

Very Oriental yea?

The Dynasty Chicken comes complete with three (3) side dishes of your choice and a Golden Orange Muffin.

My Kenny Rogers meal below: Chicken breast for me! High in protein and low in fat :)

As usual my sides are the coleslaw (wish I could lessen the amount of mayo in it), fresh fruits and herbs potatoes wedges for some healthy carbs.

But the rest of the table opted for the thigh of course. Drumsticks are always yummier right?

We complemented our meal with one of the three NEW milkshakes by KRR Choc Fun, Berrynana and Double Choc.

My first query was Is it low fat?. :)
Well, its not of course. 90% of the public would probably not appreciate low fat milkshakes anyways. I ordered a Berrynana, telling myself if ! its rich might as well make it count with fruits right?

Kenny Rogers Roasters launches Dynasty Chicken Set -4

Well Im happy to report that it wasnt cloyingly rich yet fused with considerable amount of fruitiness. Though real fruits wasnt in the recipe, I really liked it! We sampled the Choc Fun essential vanilla + chocolate and the Double Choc (multiplied chocolate ecstasyhere!) as well and concurred that the trio of new milkshakes from Kenny Rogers are recommendable.

All of the above will debut on 9th Jan 2012. Its seasonal so if youre in Kenny Rogers, do opt for the new flavour and let me know if you like it! Meanwhile their signature black pepper and original flavour are still on the menu of course.
