Village Roast Duck@BVSC.

Guest Post by Michelle.

Lunch with my mum and grandma at Village Roast Duck@ Bangsar Village Shopping Centre.

We wanted to eat Thai food but the restaurant was under renovations.

We ordered half a roast duck (Rm34.00) -which was meaty with a thin layer of fats under it's crispy skin and was served de-bone - juicy brown sauce, delicious and comparably good.

With a plate of dry noodle with two stalks of blanched Hong Kong Choy Sam (Rm6.80) and another plate of Singapore fried thick rice vermicelli (not oily at all with lots of healthy greens) (Rm14.80) to accompany the roast duck.

Total bill:Rm69/

Seafood Feast @ Xi Dian Hai Xian Lou

For our last night in Ningbo our colleagues took us to a Seafood Restaurant that offer dishes from various regions of China with an emphasis on local Seafood. We left the food to our local colleagues who did not disappoint with the number of dishes ordered.

Xi Dian Hai Xian Lou

Pickled Raddish
Pickled Vegetable

Baked Oysters
Baked Oysters
These were Baby Oysters and again were just simply baked in the oven without anything done to it. The Flavor was quite good with the salt drawing out the natural flavor of the salt.

Baked Baby Neck Clams
Baked Baby Neck Clams
A Ningbo Specialty. The Clams were really fresh and simply baked in a Salt Crust.

Steam Mantao with Minced Vegetables
Steamed Buns

Minced Vegetables stuffed in Buns
The Mantao was really soft and was good with the Minced Vegetables although it was a little oily.

Baby Potatoes
Baby Potatoes
I think these were fried and then tossed in a Sugar and Soy-Sauce. It was very good. Potatoes were soft but not too starchy. Had a nice bite.

Chicken wrapped in Lotus Leaf
Chicken wrapped in Lotus Leaf
This was good. The Chicken Seasoning was similar to KFC and was baked till the meat was super soft and tender.

Stir-Fry Clams
Stir-Fry Clams
The Clams were meaty and fresh. It was simply sauted with Spring Onions and Ginger.

Boiled Shrimp in Salt Water
Boiled Shrimp in Salt Water:
A Ningbo Style of Eating! Seafood where the Shrimps are just boiled in Salted Water allowing one to taste the freshness of the Prawns.

Steamed Crab with Onion Oil and Soy Sauce
Steamed Crab with Onion Oil and Soy Sauce
A simple but delicious way of eating their local crabs. The crab was meaty and its roe was really rich. The onion oil that was drizzled over the Crab made it very aromatic.

Steamed Local River Fish in Light Soy Sauce
Steam Local Ningbo Fish

Local Fish in Pickle Vegetable Soup
Local Fish in Pickled Vegetable Broth
The fish had a flaky texture and contained quite a number of small bones. I thoroughly enjoyed the sour and salty Pickled Vegetable Soup.

Cauliflower Hot Pot
Cauliflower Hotpot
The Cauliflower was sauteed with Beancurd and Fatty Pork Slices. Was very fragrant from the use of some Szechuan Peppercorns which also gave it a little bit of heat.

Even though there were 8 people we were completely stuffed from the amount of dishes we ordered. The Seafood Dishes we had used minimal ingredients ! and sauc es which allowed the freshness of the Seafood to stand out.

Brunch @ Wild Honey, Scotts Square, Singapore

Since our hotel stay did not include breakfast, I asked around for a good breakfast place on Orchard Road that we could go to. Two places were recommended to us - Wild Honey and Jones the Grocer. We ended up going to Wild Honey since we went for a little wander across the road to Scotts Square fromHilton Singapore, where we were staying.

Eggs Benedict ;)

Apparently, Wild Honey has a no-photography policy but we didn't know until we were leaving the premises and someone saw Hubby taking photos with my iPhone4S and told him to stop. What is it with establishments that don't allow people to take photos? I don't understand it. Anyway...

The decor in Wild Honey is pretty nice and theambianceis good too, I wouldn't mind spending the morning here with a bunch of friends and enjoying breakfast. When we arrived, we were told that there would be a 30 minute wait if we wanted a table unless we sat on the bar stools (where the huge columns are), it didn't really bother us so we went for that option. They have photos of the food on an iPad which you can flick through at the cashier counter while waiting for the table to be set.

Some decor around the restaurant

Pretty

The menu consists of all day breakfast items, sandwiches, tarts, and some sweets. There are 16 breakfast items to choose from, we had a pretty tough time deciding as they all sounded good. In the end, we settled for the English and European breakfast, as well as a pot of organic Chilean rose hip tea (S$6) to share.

Rosehip tea has a tart flavour

Love all the tou! ches her e and there which adds to the overall ambience

Hubby had the European breakfast (S$18), which is Wild Honey's version of eggs benedict - two perfectly poached egg, sauteed mushrooms (underneath the eggs which you cant see in the photo), imported Italian prosciutto and homemade Hollandaise sauce on their signature brioche. We were both very impressed with this - the brioche was very nice and the whole combination of eggs, mushrooms and prosciutto went well together. I wish I had ordered this.

Beautiful poached eggs

I had the English breakfast (S$22) which was the full works with pork (yes!) back bacon and Cumberland sausage, as well as eggs any way, sauteed mushrooms, Dad's baked beans, breakfast potatoes, grilled vine ripened tomatoes, and signature brioche. I chose to have scrambled eggs, and they turned out to be pretty good (soft and fluffy). I also loved the brioche, they were very soft though not as buttery as the ones we make (different type probably but no complains). The only thing I didn't like was the baked beans... I would have no problems if they gave me baked beans out of the tin (I like those actually with breakfast) but I think this is homemade using borlotti beans if I'm ! not wron g and the sauce is slightly spicy with a Mexican-kinda influence. I couldn't eat it and passed it to Hubby. Overall, it was a good breakfast though.

Love the brioche!

Nice fluffy scrambled eggs

Dad's baked beans

Pork bacon!

We watched the kitchen action from where we sat... very very busy!

Nice colorful glass structure at Scotts Square entrance

Verdict: A great breakfast/brunch place or just catching up with friends.

Wild Honey also has another outlet in Mandarin Gallery.

Opening times: Monday to Friday 9am-10.30pm, weekends 8am-10.30pm.

Service: Good.

Price: Total bill was SGD 54.15.

Fun Ride on a Sunday Morning

What a lovely morning 7:33 I left my house and I realised I forget about my water after reaching AU2 Jusco.
My drinking water came to my rescue and and I can proceed again.....

The exploration continued and found this crowded stall serving food for breakfast @ Jalan AU2A/15. I have marked this stall and will come back for the food.

Selling all kind of baskets with old bicycles at the shop front.
Passed by these LRT stations in Datuk Keramat area.

Morning wet market of Datuk Keramat. Anyone knows the reason why they do not want to move to the new market nearby?
The new market cum mall where the old anddilapidatedmarket supposed to move here and it has been long overdue and what a waste of DBKL money if it'sunused.

From Datuk Keramat to Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and decided to have my breakfast here.
While I was enjoying my breakfast the Manager of Old Town was admiring the FB and I offered him to try it out.
My first time cycling in the city of Kuala Lumpur and probably I will do it more.

Sunday is a good day to do it.
I saw a FB locked at a bus stand right in front of KLCC together with a helmet.

Met this pretty lady in yellow....Ignore the sign, FB is now allowed in the train for weekends.
Waiting for the train to come.......
At last I had my fb into a LRT train.
An finally I reached home 10:33 and it was a great 3 hours excitement on a beautiful Sunday.
