Hotel Review: Empire Hotel Subang, Selangor, Malaysia

The Red Man says, "Welcome"...

The last two weeks, we have been busy bringing the kids around since it is the school holidays! We had so much fun, just doing simple family things together like going to the mall, playing in the sandpit, and going for delicious food. Since Baby D is still quite young, we decided to avoid travelling too far (kids get cranky if they sit in the car for too long) and instead brought them to some KL hotels for a weekend getaway!

I know technically speaking we're still in the city and not far from home, but it was a lovely experience for the children as they got to stay in a hotel, something new and exciting for them. The first hotel that we stayed in was Empire Hotel Subang which is connected to Empire Shopping Gallery. Thanks to Carol, we were given one of the nicest rooms (or rather duplex suite) in the hotel -the Empire Sanctuary.

Empire Sanctuary

The Empire Hotel is a 13-storey boutique hotel with 198 rooms, comprising of Premier Essential, Essential Plus, Dualistic, Clique (2-bedroom), Empire Sanctuary and Empire Sanctuary Optima. Published prices start from RM520 (Premier Essential) to RM1750 (Empire Sanctuary Optima), however you can get much cheaper rates if you book online via their website here.

Check-in was a breeze, while I checked in Hubby and the kids admired the art deco pieces scattered! around the hotel lobby such as The Red Man, quirky chairs and art pieces. Our duplex suite (Empire Sanctuary) is located on the 13th Floor of the hotel. When we entered our suite, the first words out of our mouth was "Wow". In Baby C's words, "Mummy, our room is SO BIG! Got stairs going upstairs."

The living room with 32" Samsung LCD TV and comfy chairs. There is also an iPod docking station just behind the sofas and complimentary Wifi!

Usually, there is a dining table set next to the living area, but because we were coming with 2 kids, the hotel have arranged for 2 single beds to be placed in the room. There is also a kitchen area with microwave oven, and a coffee machine.

The kids couldn't wait to go upstairs to have a look!

Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a king size bed, a bathroom and a study/work area. In the work area, one of the walls is a full-length glass window so you can view the living area from there. It really is a spacious suite.

Someone's found the comfy bed! Spring and cotton filled king size bed with duck feather pillows.

We ended up sleeping upstairs (all of us) and also requested for a baby cot, which arrived pretty quickly after we requested for it.

Someone's found the bathroom! Mummy, look - there is a bathtub! (Btw the hotel guests can use the swimming pool in Fitness First next door - we didn't know the hotel had a pool so we ended up letting the kids play in the bathtub which they liked very much)

Let's go down and enjoy the fruit platter

My happy children - they really enjoyed their stay !

There are lots of full-length mirrors all over the suite as well and a floor to ceiling window that allows plenty of sunlight into the suite.

While enjoying their fruits, my children also watched some of their favorite cartoons on the LCD TV from their USB stick. I brought the pendrive just in case, and the TV had a USB slot for this! Hurray! Otherwise, there are in-house satellite movie and music channels at a cost.

They both like the "rocking chair" in the living area.. taking turns to rock each other!

Nice corridor leading to our rooms

After a short rest in our suite, we went downstairs to the mall to have a look around. On the 2nd floor, there are lots of kids activities such as Kizsports & Gym, My Favourite Art House and Plaster Fun House. There are also lots of mechanical rides around the mall.

There is a Lex Slide here too, that takes u all the way down to the ground floor. Only for those above 120cm!

There are many dining options in the mall, but the hotel also has two restaurants. Di Wei, which we have visited recently serves authentic Cantonese cuisine and Kitchen Art serves local and international cuisine (themed buffets). They also have a bar/entertainment area called Shout Lounge for your happy hours.

We visited Kitchen Art in the morning f! or an ea rly breakfast (they start serving breakfast from 6.30am to 10.30am). There is an egg station, noodles station, freshly baked bread and pastries and local food such as yong tau foo and nasi lemak. I like the rendang daging and omelette. We only had a light breakfast as we were heading to Di Wei for dim sum later. (to be blogged about soon!)

Overall, we had a great, enjoyable stay at Empire Hotel Subang. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, and the location next to the mall is a plus-point for us as it makes entertaining our kids easy. Other than being an excellent choice for leisure, it is suitable for corporate and businessmen.

Loved our stay :)
