California

As I am stuck inside being clobbered by a hurricane, I just wonder, why didn't I just stay on the west coast? Sure they have earthquakes but apparently we have them now too. The weather is always the same. You can't really walk anywhere but driving is fun. And Disneyland is an hour away.

This is a red velvet cookie ice cream sandwich with mango sorbet followed by a gingersnap ice cream sandwich with peach ice cream. Probably the best ice cream sandwiches ever. And found at Coast in Santa Monica.

Umami (which is the newly discovered taste bud that is sensitive to meat) burger is a new popular chain throughout the LA area. Their veggie burger was fantastic as were their sweet potato fries, which tastes like cinnamon and powder sugar.

Here is the Ivy where Demi Moore and Bruce Willis hooked up in the bathroom. Where Brad and Jen would get takeout. And where Lindsay Lohan last stoppe! d before she was arrested for the very first time. They make amazing scones for brunch.

Cake Monkey has numerous outlets and are also found in Umami burger. They make these mini cakes in flavors like red velvet and banana, much better than any hostess product.

Here is a shot from Geoffrey's, a Malibu restaurant right on the ocean. Their walls are decorated with celebrity pictures. Woody Allen drew a broken heart.

"Mad scientist" flavors can be found at Scoops, a gelato joint. This is their most popular flavor, brown bread. Which tasted like brown bread but it was cold and creamy. If that makes sense.

Disneyland had these. You know what I am doing this Halloween.

And finally the Danish pastries of Solvang, a Danish community in the middle of California. Random and amazing. There is a fantastic pancake restaurant here as well as many bakeries, scenic mountains, and people dressed in Danish clothing. It was like Epcot.
